The European Economic Area Grants are funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway (Donor States) by signing an agreement on 28th July 2010 between the Donor States and the European Commission about the allocation of the financial assistance for the implementation of Grants in the new period 2014-2021.
Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Latvia is participating in the implementation of the European Economic Area financial instrument 2014-2021 period program " International Police Cooperation and Combating Crime" project "Strengthening of the capacity of forensic system and inspection of the site of the event" as the project implementer.
Project goal and achievable result:
The project will make a significant contribution to the provision of technical capacity and competence of experts of forensic institutions, which in turn will have a positive impact on the reduction of the overall duration of the examinations in one case and will improve the support of the forensic experts on the site of the event.
The project is implemented by:
Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Latvia.
National project partners: State Centre for Forensic Medical Examination, State Police, State Forensic Science Bureau.
Donor state/international project partner: National Criminal Investigation Service of Norway.
The total project funding is estimated at EUR 2 680 000, of which the EEA grant funding of 85% is EUR 2 278 000 and the national co-financing of 15% is EUR 402 000, complemented by a grant of EUR 171 000 from the Norwegian Grant Programme’s Bilateral Cooperation Fund.
The project will be implemented until 30 April 2024.
