In order to acquire comprehensive knowledge about introduction of the requirements of data protection in the national regulatory enactments of Latvia and their application in practice, as well as exchange with experience in the area of personal data protection, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova is visiting Latvia from 26 to 27 September.
The delegation consists of the deputies of the Parliament of Moldova Chiril MOTPAN, Chairman of the National Committee on Safety, Defence and Public Order, Ivan ZABUNOV, the representative of the Committee on Human Rights and Ethic Relations, Vasile BOLEA, the representative of the Legal Committee on Appointment and Immunity, as well as Eduard RĂDUCAN, the Director of the National Personal Data Protection Centre of the Republic of Moldova. Besides, the delegation will be accompanied to the meetings by Eugen Revenco, the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Latvia, and Maia Cuceaidze, the Third Secretary of the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova.
The delegation of the Republic of Moldova is interested to find out as much as possible on the personal data protection system in Latvia, in order to introduce the most valuable conclusions and activities also in the personal data protection system of the Republic of Moldova. Application of the acquired knowledge and experience could take place during next years, upon considering the principles of personal data protection by the deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova when evaluating and adopting laws.
During the first day of the visit the parliamentarians of Moldova and the head of the National Personal Data Protection Centre will meet with Janis Bordans, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Justice, as well as will visit the State Data Inspectorate, the Ombudsman Office and the Constitutional Court, but on the second day the delegation of Moldova will meet with the management of the Legal Commission at the Saeima and will visit also the Supreme Court.
The visit is organized within the framework of the Twinning Project “Capacity Building of the National Personal Data Protection Centre of the Republic of Moldova”, No. MD 13 ENPI JH 03 17 (MD/29), jointly implemented by Latvia and Germany and funded by the EU.
The purpose of the project is to build the capacity of the National Personal Data Protection Centre of Moldova and within the framework of that it is planned to coordinate the national legal acts of Moldova in the area of data protection with the EU standards and to promote understanding about the legal acts on data protection.
