On Wednesday, 26th June the Minister of Justice Jānis Bordāns met with the Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Latvia Tea Maisuradze in order to discuss the current inner political situation I Georgia and further cooperation in the field of justice.
During the visit, T. Maisuradze informed about the situation in Georgia and thanked Latvia for previous support and cooperation in the field of justice.
During the discussion with the Ambassador, J. Bordāns, the Minister of Justice stressed: “Development of democracy and rule of law strengthens a country and secures good relationship with the European Union. Bering in mind the complicated situation with the Georgian internal political affairs, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Latvia is ready to provide support and share experience to disallow Russian provocations in Georgia; to secure faster Euro-Atlantic integration of Georgia; and to support accession of Georgia to the European Union and NATO.”

On 16th April 2019 the Court Administration successfully finished project “Training of Court Employees within Twinning” in Georgia first launched back in September 2017.
From 26th to 30th November 2018 Latvia was visited by the delegation of the Georgian Ministry of Justice to learn about the Latvian experience before joining the European Union, making national legislation compliant with the European Union’s acquis as well as latest information about law reforms, recovery of means of support, successful activities in the field of probation, places of imprisonment and Olaine Prison Centre for Addicts.
