Kristīne Pommere nominated as a representative at the European Court of Justice and the European Free Trade Association 24.03.2020


On Tuesday, March 24, the Cabinet of Ministers approved Kristīne Pommere as the representative of the Republic of Latvia at the European Court of Justice and the European Free Trade Association Court.

Minister of Justice Jānis Bordāns: “Kristīne Pommere has competently performed her duties as the Deputy Secretary of State for Strategy of the Ministry of Justice. In addition, K.Pommere has the necessary qualifications and knowledge of the European Union law and she has proven herself well in running the Secretariat of the Council of the European Union during the Latvian presidency.”

The task of the representative is to ensure the presentation and defense of the position of the Republic of Latvia before the European Court of Justice and the European Free Trade Association Court.

Ms. Pommere will continue to perform her duties as the Deputy Secretary of State for Strategy of the Ministry of Justice.

The representative of the Republic of Latvia in the Court of Justice of the European Union is approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice in agreement with the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Until July 8, 2019, Irēna Kucina was the representative of the Republic of Latvia in the European Court of Justice.
