Jānis Bordāns to check the performance of the functions of judicial authorities during an emergency situation 16.04.2020
On Friday, April 17, Minister of Justice Jānis Bordāns will pay a working visit to Vidzeme District Court in Valmiera. The purpose of the visit is to monitor the organization of the work, performance of the functions and precautionary measures taken by the institutions of the judicial system, checking the readiness of the institutions to ensure the established requirements during an emergency situation.
With the aim of further increasing the capacity to use videoconferencing not only in the judiciary work, but also in prisons, the Minister of Justice will test the possibilities and quality of videoconferencing in person. Therefore, from the Vidzeme District Court room, in a videoconference mode, Mr. Bordāns will contact Andris Bašķis, the head of Valmiera Prison, to discuss current issues regarding the organization of work in the prison, the introduced restrictions and the necessary measures to ensure safety of employees during the emergency situation.
Using the Microsoft Teams video conferencing service, the Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Vidzeme District Court Jānis Grīnbergs will contact the Valka Court to learn about their experience in ensuring continuity of work - working remotely for 14 days while the court employees and judges were in self-isolation due to the case of Covid-19 infection.
