J.Bordāns: The provision of false information in order to receive allowance for idle time shall be subject to administrative liability 02.04.2020
On Thursday, 2 April, the Cabinet of Ministers supported amendments to the Latvian Code of Administrative Violations developed by the Ministry of Justice, which would entail administrative liability for violation of regulations governing the receiving of allowance for idle time - failure to submit information or providing false information to the State Revenue Service.
Minister of Justice Jānis Bordāns: “In order to ensure that resources of the State budget are not misused or wasted when paying out and recovering unreasonably requested allowances for idle time, it shall be necessary to provide for liability for the provision of false information to the State Revenue Service, as well as for not communicating information which would serve as the basis for the suspension of the allowance for idle time."
The amendments entail a monetary fine of up to EUR 1,500 for natural persons or members of the board of directors, depriving the member of the board of directors of the right to hold certain positions in commercial companies or without the said deprivation of rights.
The amendments have yet to be adopted by the Saeima; they shall enter into force on the day of their promulgation.
